5 Blue Ribbons
Djinni (pronounced Jinny) has grown up thinking that the Prince Tarrant-Arragon is the scourge of the universe, a dissolute man who thinks only of himself. She is a Saurian White Knight who is sworn to oppose him and is willing to lay her life down for her beliefs. She never thought that the man who abducted her was her worst enemy and certainly never would have recited the poem that got her married if she’d known his true identity. The man she’d come to know and perhaps love could not be wicked prince!
Tarrant-Arragon is pleased to find a half-Djinn woman on the planet Earth. He needs to find a fertile Djinn virgin in order to save the Great Djinn bloodline. He is used to getting what he wants as the next god-Emperor of Tigron. He abducts Djinni, but he is determined to have a “happy” mating. He is not used to abiding by the wishes of others, but his bride-to-be has thoroughly enchanted him. Only problem, she hates him, or at least she hates the Prince of Tigron, Tarrant-Arragon. What’s a prince to do when he’s determined to ensure her happiness yet absolutely must get her to marry him?
FORCED MATE is one of the best science fiction romances I’ve read all year. Tarrant-Arragon is an alpha male who is used to getting what he wants “by stealth if possible, by force if necessary”. I was impressed at how Rowena Beaumont Cherry could create such a wonderfully arrogant man who is also so incredibly endearing. Djinni is a strong, yet surprisingly innocent woman who is the perfect foil for the worldly Tarrant-Arragon. I loved every scene with them together and was amazed how completely satisfied I felt at the end of the book. There were many fascinating secondary characters, such as the English mercenary, Grievous. It was the wealth of great characters and fabulous plot that makes this such a wonderful book.
I sincerely hope that there will be more books set in this world as there are many wonderful secondary characters who deserve their own story. I highly encourage any fan of sci-fi romance to immediately pick up this book. You definitely won’t be disappointed in FORCED MATE. I plan to put this one on my keeper shelf and read it for many years to come."
